Jack Yoon: Red-White MF Deck won Malaysia Qualifiers with 11 wins.

Hello everyone , Jack Yoon here playing OPCG and GCG in the Asia Region ( Malaysia ).
My socials at X is @JackYoonTCG where I will post my latest decklist and results there.
My dream is to one day qualify for Asia finals and enter the world championship.
I attended my first Gundam Regional Championship in Malaysia (256 players) for the format GD05 and I managed to finish 4th placing in the Swiss round and eventually
emerging champion for the event at the top cut.
I had been main blurple Barbatos for the season GD04 and for GD05 the best deck to pilot is red white MF.
The reason why is it doesn’t have a match up where it is impossible to win if getting the right cards and curve and I had consistently beat NU Gundam unless they high rolled me an early link of rx78 and Amuro breaking base and weenies go through life , but in most of the matches it just doesn’t come so easily.
This is my list for the tournament

However after I participated in the Regional Finals the following day (32 players) I finished the
tournament with a result of 2-3 at Swiss cut and bubble out.
The 3 games that I lost are :
I lost to a high rolled Nu gundam , blurple V strike freedom where he manage to drag to late game with 2 turns of SF link and clear my board , blurple SF where I go for lethal and his last shield was a base.
After that day I went back and tested on MSA and finalised my decklist as follows

What is MF deck and Why I Choose MF?
Of all the options I had for GD05 and the problem with luck based draw in Gundam card game, the only deck that stands out of this norm is the MF deck .
It has ways to cycle away bad cards using commands and also able to retrieve cards and gain resources from trash.
It can repeatedly do the same cycle over and give me the same result in most of the matches I play.
The reason why I shy away from Nu Gundam is because it highly dependant on the Nu Gundam 7c . If you fail to put it on curve and when run out of gas , it is basically just game over with no ways to come back to the game , and honestly

We are done with the aggro meta aren’t we?

MF deck Guide :

Step 1: Mulligan like a pro
The ideal starting hand should be having 1 unit of 2C Gundam Maxter or Michaelis

The second key card you need to look for is the below combo in your starting hand , I would usually keep if I have 1 of the key card plus 2 COMMAND Airframe Seizure or Overflowing Affection.

You need to remember this combo by heart and this is how you control the entire board for the midge

1 UNIT Shining gundam + PILOT Domon Kasshu with COMMAND – Shining finger / Darkness Finger

2 UNIT Rising gundam + COMMAND/PILOT Cyclone Punch
3 UNIT Rising gundam + PILOT Domon Kasshu with COMMAND – Cyclone punch LINK with on board Maxter or COMMAND Shining finger / Darkness Finger

Step 2:
Be aware of whether your opponent is an aggro deck or control deck and the beauty of this deck is it has the two COMMAND card Airframe seizure and
overflowing affection that help me to decide and cycle my hand for the right card to win my opponent.
Key tips for cycling card :
If opponent is aggro deck – CONTROL the board . Find for cards like I mention
for the combo above.
If opponent is control deck – GAIN value and trade for value .To put it in short, use one unit to force opponent to trade 2 unit with you.
Prepare for the MASTER GUNDAM combo with MASTER ASIA

Step 3:
HOW GAIN VALUE ? Or HANDSIZE?
The cycling card is the most important , be aware of your trash , The best card to throw whenever you cycle your hand is the extras you have in your hand.
For example if I have 2 COMMAND Shining Finger I will usually throw it the first card.
ALWAYS throw SPECIAL MOVE COMMAND card because you will always able to draw it back from UNIT Shining Gundam / Aerial Gundam.
Then when your next cycle you need to BUILD YOUR TRASH with MF UNITS .
So that when you drop SHINING GUNDAM you can GAIN VALUE

The reason why I added AERIAL Is because sometimes at the late game , I need the flexibility to draw ANY COMMAND CARD.
WHAT TO PICK ?
If I need to search for WIN CONDITION/ LINK FOR END GAME = Airframe Seizure / Overflowing Affection.
If I need to control board and activate the draw effect of MASTER GUNDAM =

Darkness Finger
If I need to clear board with FIRST STRIKE on Shining Gundam = Shining Finger.
If I need to be prepared for STRIKE FREEDOM / NU GUNDAM hitting my unit and protecting my BIG UNIT = Unforeseen Incident.

To be honest UNFORESEEN INCIDENT is the MVP of this deck . It has won me countless of game.

Try it yourself and for me 1 is enough because the deck is too tight for more cards.

HAOW Gundam – EFFECTIVE against ZEONG tokens / Rush deck that flood the board.

SHINING GUNDAM SUPERMODE
1. For the suppression and also additional link unit for Domon
2. Keep in your hand and clear STRIKE FREEDOM that has 8 FREAKING life when linked.

DOMON 2 AP + SG super mode will total up to 8 attack and can clear a strike freedom with first strike

CONCLUSION

Practice makes perfect. Go to locals and enjoy the game .
GD05 format is one of the best to try out any decks and have fun .
The banlist for vanilla had improve on the entire GCG gameplay significantly and I wish you winning tournaments.

Ricco K: MY ADVENTURE WITH DESTINY GD-04 (Part 2)

Hi, this time I will update my previous Destiny Deck (purple-white). Update new list with 3 Best Pilots (Kira + Shinn + Mikazuki) on my list. First time, I think this deck is too slow and complicated, until I play against this deck on Final Round NTC (credit to: Edwin Grealdy / KIRIEL), this deck is not bad at all, kill some aggro deck. After that match I consider to rebuild my PW Destiny. This deck maybe weak on early game, but very strong at late game, multiple Destiny with High Maneuver is a real problem

Deck List:

Key card:

  1. Destiny + Shinn:

Destiny Linked unit is the best unit here, to bring back our unit from trash.

High Manuever make this unit is the one of best Finisher.

  1. Aile Strike + Kira

Kira + Aile still the best white link unit till’ GD04 meta. Also we need kira to clear agro minion.

  1. Barbatos  Adapt + Mikazuki

Help to clear small HP unit from board.

  1. Gracefull Demeanor

We need this to play arroung agro meta. Also help us to clear token or small blocker.

Notes:

  1. We must survive on early game, that’s why Graceful Demeanor is very important, you can bring 2 – 4 copies.
  2. Sword impulse is an important pieces on this deck , play that card, and trade it with opponent unit, when Lv. 7 Destiny on time with Shin Asuka, need 6 resource, and then swing destiny, active 1 resource, so u have 2 resource, u can pay this combo on time.
  3. Bring 11 Pilots on this list, because so many unit needs pilot. (eg: Destiny & Aile Strike).
  4. Lv2 – Lv6 try to prepare 2 blockers before you Play Destiny Gundam, so you can protect your boss card.
  5. Overflowing and Base can help you to fill your trash.
  6. Barbatos package is the best answer for Victory Deck, also tokens unit from Zeong, Red Zaku, etc.
  7. Pick 2nd , play second help us to get LV.7 easier.
  8. Try to play more aggresive for some High End Matchup (Unicorn, Neo Zeong,  Wing), make their life 0 as soon as possible, use every link unit that u have to take their life. And then finish them with Destiny Gundam High Manuever.

Closing:

Okay, this is the end of my article about Destiny Gundam part 2. So many  cards I want to try on this decklist (eg: Barbatos LR draw, striker pack, kusanagi, etc.). But for now, I think I must  focus on play around against Aggro Meta, because PB Barb and BG Oyw are very very aggressive. I hope you will try this deck. and sure, if you want share your list you can send it to my X or Twitter Ricco Kurniawan (@ricco_kurniawan).  I need more and more trial with this deck, so I can update this decklist and make it stronger.

Thx to Edwin Geraldy (ID : KIRIEL), you really inspired me to update my list.

Thx for the Readers who always read my article, really appreciate it.

See u on Part 3 (I hope I can update this deck better)!!

Kira + Aile still the best white link unit till’ GD04 meta..

  1. Freedom Gundam (ST09)

Big bodies and suppression attack, plus can link unit with Kira.

Notes:

Fuji: Athens Regional Winner – PB Barbatos

Hello everyone, Fuji here! If you don’t know me, I’m a European (Italian) Gundam TCG player since the beginning.
I don’t use my socials much to talk about it, but I sometimes do on my Metafy.

This past weekend I attended a Regional Championship in Greece, and I managed to win it. The crazy part is that I didn’t lose a single game. Today I’m going to talk about it a bit—what I faced, how I approached the matchups, and my general thoughts on the deck.

This wasn’t my first major top, but it’s definitely my most important one so far!

The tournament had 7 rounds of Swiss, with a Top 8 cut.
So only X-1 players were allowed into playoffs—not easy, I have to say. In a BO1 format with a lot of RNG, staying almost undefeated is really hard. Right now, you can lose to almost any deck—that’s my opinion.

First of all, I’m going to show you my list:

I think this is the most consistent way to play the deck.
Actually, -1 White Base +1 Show of Resolve would probably be better, but I decided to play 1 White Base because I felt more comfortable having 3 bases, hoping to flip one from shields. I was also a bit scared of how much Red I might face. But honestly, I don’t think that choice made a huge difference.

Before starting with the rounds: I can’t say I highrolled much or that it was just “my day.”
I didn’t make any Link units until round 5, and I didn’t do Mikazuki + Barbatos until the last rounds. I was basically improvising plays with 2/2 units + pilots lol.

Matchups

ROUND 1 – WING

I was scared as hell to face Wing (LOL), because it’s that “outdated” meta deck that can still highroll and kill you sometimes.
I don’t think my opponent made the best choices. I started first, and I remember he played a Base on turn 1, which you should almost never do. I had a good curve with a double drop on turn 2 and Corsica on turn 3.

At that point he used EX Resource for Sword + Kira to bounce my Talgeese token and attack Corsica—something I didn’t really like. If Wing uses EX Resource too early, it becomes harder for them later. I rushed pretty quickly and closed it out.

ROUND 2 – THE O

This was a fun game because my opponent was really nice.
And honestly, I still don’t understand how I won.

I only realized he was white-blue after like 5 turns—I had only seen white cards. By the end, I faced 4 Aile Strikes (twice), 2 Gundam + Amuro, and The-O + Scirocco.

I really don’t know how, but I won that game!

ROUND 3 – PURPLE BLUE

Nothing crazy here. I started second, neither of us did anything insane.
I think he made one trade I wasn’t sure about, but overall I just rushed earlier than him.

ROUND 4 – THE O

I faced Luca, an Italian player—super friendly and nice. He also made Top 8.

He didn’t have a great draw, I could tell. We both played everything we had, but I managed to avoid his blockers and get good value. Here, the choice to play 6 copies of the 4/3 units really paid off.

ROUND 5 – PURPLE BLUE

Against Mario! A friend of Luca (Round 4) and Giacomo (Finals).

Guys, don’t hate me—I didn’t love their decklist, mainly because I think you want to play faster. They were running NT1, Lupus, and 2 Rebake. But in the end, their list worked since they made finals.

In this match I think I was just faster, but I actually won thanks to a lucky Amuro draw that let me close the game. It was super intense against a strong player.

ROUND 6 – WHITE RED

My biggest fear!

I’m scared of this deck’s burst. Luckily, I didn’t see anything crazy from shields. I controlled the field well with good trades and closed the game before he could drop anything too big.

ROUND 7 – PURPLE BLUE

Concede!

Yes, you heard right. At this point, all X-1 players were already in Top Cut, so I had no reason to play.
I preferred to talk with my opponent—he was an Italian player at his first major event. I wanted to give him the win and let him go 7-0.

Also, having 40 minutes to rest and not revealing your decklist to a potential opponent isn’t a bad idea.

Top-Cut

TOP 8 – WING

My god… Wing again!

I won 2-0. I started first in Game 1 and second in Game 2.

My opponent was very nice, but he didn’t see anything crazy. He was playing Shenlong, which can be dead against me, and he didn’t find it. He tried to make plays, but nothing really worked, so I closed both games.

TOP 4 – WHITE RED

Same opponent from Round 6, from Athens—super nice guy.

I won 2-0 again.
In Game 2 he used something like 5 removal effects on my units (3 Close Combat and 2 Improved, I think).

In the end, he ran out of cards and didn’t draw anything impactful. He played Providence twice in a row, but I already had too much board, so I just kept swinging at shields.

### FINALS

Against my friend Giacomo.

We were joking earlier because he said he built his list for the mirror match, and I was like “yeah… too heavy for me.”

I don’t know, but it felt like karma was on my side—he bricked both games.
In Game 2 he had something like 2 Show of Resolve, 2 Bases, and 2 Pilots in hand. Meanwhile, I had 6 resources + EX and played 4 Guntanks and 2 drops lol.

But yeah, it is what it is.
I won the tournament with a deck I refused to play since the beginning.

Thank you guys for reading!
If you want a deeper breakdown beyond matchups, you can check my Metafy for free.

Hope to see you soon at a tournament!

Ricco K, MINI GUIDE: BLUE – WHITE SEED GUNDAM [GD03]

Hi this is Ricco from Indonesia.

Maybe some of you already know me from previous Blue White Guide.  This article will help you on GD03. So I wish I can help many players to improve their skills. And you can find me on My X or twitter Ricco Kurniawan (ricco_kurniawan).

Deck List:

Key card:

1. Blocker Package:

  • 4 Zowort
  • 4 Lfrith
  • 4 Rick Dias
  • 4 Striker Pack

2. Amuro + Rx78 ST

Combine of best blue pilot and best blue unit, best midgame link unit, to clear enemy’s unit.

3. Kira + Aile Strike

Kira + Aile is a second best link after Amuro – RX, bounce 1 unit and attack enemy’s unit. Clear 2 unit is a superb counter attack.

4. Justice Gundam

Justice Gundam is the best unit on this deck. 2 bodies from 1 card. Winning card for many matchups.

5. Freedom Gundam (ST09)

New good weapon from ST09, blocker and suppression. Very strong card for Starving Game Plan.

Play Turn by Turn

MATCH UP

  1. BAD MATCHUP : BG OYW, BP BARBATOS
  2. GOOD MATCHUP : RW BURN, GW WING, UW THE O, RB MARIDA, RG ZEON

Bad matchup:

Blue Green ZOne Year War (45 – 55)

  1. STARVING GAME PLAN
  2. Mulligan to blockers
  3. Starving game. Attack only on enemy unit, no point to attack their life on early game
  4. Our mission is only survive to clear opponent board. Wipe out.
  5. Always trade your zowort with zaku 3/2. Useless if you attack to that zaku on our turn, and then pass turn, and he will ping 1 to our zowort. Enemy get your base and kill your zowort easily.
  6. No greedy attack, only attack with non blocker unit, or attack with one unit and then stand it with archangel
  7. Final wave attack, only if we sure we want to end game
  8. Keep life on 1 not 0. Always keep your base, your base is additional life.

Blue Purple Barbatos Aggro-ping (40 – 60)

  1. STARVING GAME PLAN
  2. Mulligan to blockers.
  3. If you have basic base, and then attacked by minion 2 AP, okay no block. If 3 AP block it.
  4. Always trade your 3 AP blocker  with their ‘REZEL” unit.
  5. Lfrith or Striker Pack (2/4 unit) block 2/2 minion unit. (so cannot easily ping by sniper. Eg: guntank, ankhsa, barba, etc)
  6. Starving game. Attack only on enemy unit, no point to attack their life on early game.
  7. Always kill the barbatos unit, use amuro wisely.
  8. No greedy attack, only attack with non blocker unit, or attack with one unit and then stand it with archangel.
  9. Final wave only if we sure we want to end game.

Good Matchup:

Green White Wing (55 – 45)

  1. Keep your blocker standby, no need attack
  2. If [RX78 link unit] or [Aile Strike link unit] attack, keep your blocker standby, we need cover our boss.
  3. Play Justice Gundam after their WGZ enter the battlefield. If no WGZ play, so no need to play Justice Gundam (if Justice is the only card that you can cast this turn, okay do that.)
  4. Play your base wisely (breech anytime)
  5. Keep your base for extra life, if you cannot handle high maneuver, you need your base for extra life

Red White Seed – Providence (55 – 45)

  1. Mulligan to Justice Gundam, find this unit.
  2. Display of resolve is a key to win, draw draw draw
  3. Spam six unit ASAP, and we will win. (justice mvp)
  4. Always choose (2/4 unit) for striker pack.
  5. Wisely attack their life, so many traps on their life

BW THE O (60 – 40)

  1. Spam 6 units, justice will help you, and then attack to their life
  2. This deck have a snow ball effect, but very slow, so better finish this game asap, no prolong.
  3. Spam justice and draw 2 cards as much as you can
  4. Freedom GD01 can help to reduce their AP

Red Blue Marida (60 – 40)

  1. We need blocker ap3, to trade their “REZEL” unit.
  2. Justice will be your MVP
  3. Always drop 2/4 blocker
  4. Count their trash, and prepare blocker, banshee can kill 2 big bodies cleanly
  5. Drop all your unit and blocker, draw 2 later, if you have no unit anymore, play your command to draw.
  6. Go wide with Justice.
  7. Keep our tempo with RX or AILE LINK UNIT.

Red Green Gqux (55 – 45)

  1. STARVING GAME PLAN
  2. G-FRED is a very strong card, always check their pilot on trash
  3. Don’t play around life 0, keep on 1 life (many high maneuver)
  4. Buying time with many blockers and then punish with big body.

Extra noted:

  1. We must learn how to do “STARVING GAME PLAN”
  2. Attack wisely and only if you need to do that.
  3. Aggro deck is the real contender, so you must build your deck for agro match up.
  4. Freedom ST09, is a surprise attack, so better you do this attack with link unit.  (don’t forget this unit need friendly base for suppression)
  5. Ap3 blocker trade for “REZEL” Vanilla.
  6. Agro MU if we have base, please no take OHKO to base, 2 times attack to base still ok, if 5/6 AP to base, block it.
  7. Justice timing is after the WGZ (GW matchup), if not necessary don’t play Justice on curve. If the wgz waiting and keep on hand do the job with your current field and draw2 or play LV6 unit above.

DONE!!!

Am really sorry maybe a little to late to write this mini update for previous guide, this meta will end soon. If u have any question u can chat me on X or Twitter.

Also this article is the result of our team’s practice and experiments. Of course, what I’ve written isn’t necessarily 100% accurate. I hope this article can help you gain a better understanding of playing the blue-white deck.
